Final Design (development of construction plans and specifications)
Length: N/A
Schedule: Regional Transporation Plan Phase I (2006-2010)
ADOT anticipates completion of final design by late summer 2007 and construction completion by late 2009

Programmed Budget:

Jomax Rd. $21.5 million;  Dixileta Dr. $8.2 million

Project Details:

In partnership with the city of Phoenix, a new full diamond traffic interchange proposed at Interstate 17 (Black Canyon Freeway) and Jomax Road and a half-diamond traffic interchange with ramps to the south is proposed at I-17 and Dixileta Drive.* Existing two-way frontage roads along I-17 between Happy Valley Road and Dixileta Drive will be converted to more efficient and safer one-way roads.

New bridge structures will be required for Jomax Road and Dixileta Drive over I-17. New northbound and southbound frontage road bridges over Skunk Creek are also included in the project.

Traffic Management During Construction:

During construction of the bridges over I-17, ADOT plans to maintain two lanes of traffic along I-17 in each direction during peak hours. ADOT will coordinate with the City of Phoenix to coordinate traffic during the conversion of the frontage roads from two way to one way.

* Projects pending outcome of environmental process.
